„Ich liebe es, mit meinem Atem Musik zu machen“
Interview mit Ernst Hutter, musikalischer Leiter der Egerländer Musikanten

MARBURG/WETZLAR. Bei den Titeln wie „Böhmischer Wind“, „Dompfaff“ oder „Wir sind Kinder von der Eger“ geraten Blasmusik-Fans ins Schwärmen. Damit verbinden sie Melodien im Polka-, Walzer- und Marschrhythmus, aber vor allem die hochkarätigen Musiker der „Original Egerländer Musikanten“ und den Namen Ernst Mosch. Er, der „König der Blasmusik“ gründete 1956 zusammen mit Musikerfreunden dieses mittlerweile wohl bekannteste Blasorchester der Welt. Viele der gespielten Musikstücke stammten aus seiner Feder. Doch als der Orchesterchef 1999 verstarb ging eine Ära zu Ende. Nicht jedoch die der „Egerländer Musikanten“. Der Tenorhornist Ernst Hutter, der selbst seit 1985 bei den Egerländern mitwirkt und darüber hinaus Lead-Posaunist der Big Band des Südwestrundfunks ist, übernahm darauf hin die musikalische Leitung (offiziell ab 2003). Am Samstag, 29. März, sind „Ernst Hutter und die Egerländer Musikanten“ zu Gast in der Wetzlarer Stadthalle. Christian Lademann hat Hutter zu einem Interview getroffen.
Wie steht es um die Zukunft der Egerländer Musikanten? Stirbt die Anhängerschar irgendwann aus?
Ernst Hutter: Um die Zukunft steht es besser denn je. Ich bin 1985 zu den Egerländern gekommen. Ich war damals 27 Jahre alt. Die anderen Kollegen, inklusive Ernst Mosch, waren um die 60. Ab da hat es begonnen, dass jüngere Leute die älteren ersetzt haben. Trotzdem waren überwiegend ältere Leute im Publikum. Jetzt sind wir im zehnten Jahr nach dem Tod von Ernst Mosch und wir haben in den meisten Konzerten mittlerweile mehr Altersgenossen unter den Zuhörern als ältere Leute. Wenn ich das mit den Swing Legenden vergleiche: Dort ist der Altersdurchschnitt ungefähr zehn Jahre höher als bei den Egerländern. Zuletzt haben wir sehr viele junge Leute in den Konzerten gehabt. Wir haben natürlich auch in Regionen gespielt, wo die Blasmusik in der Breite der Bevölkerung eine große Rolle spielt, weil es dort viele aktive Musiker gibt. Und für die sind die Egerländer nach wie vor das Maß aller Dinge - was die musikalische Qualität und das bläserische Vermögen angeht.
Wie sieht es mit dem eigenen musikalischen Nachwuchs aus?
Hutter: Ich sehe kein Nachwuchsproblem. Wir haben nach dem Tod von Ernst Mosch umstrukturiert, so wie das im weiten gesellschaftlichen Rahmen immer wieder notwendig ist. Zum Beispiel jüngere Leute ins Orchester zu holen, die dann die Zukunft wieder versinnbildlichen und mit ihren Erfahrungen bei den Egerländern irgendwann wieder zu Entscheidungsträgern werden und die Zukunft in ihre Hände nehmen. Wir haben mittlerweile Musiker dabei, die noch studieren, und ganz junge Profis, die erst um die 30 sind. Ich bin jetzt mit 50 Jahren der Drittälteste. Johann Kaszner und Gerhard Fink sind zwei Jahre älter, die sind beide Jahrgang 1956, ich bin Jahrgang 1958. Ja, wir sind wesentlich jünger geworden. Und das strahlt auch auf das Publikum aus. Junge Leute wollen auch jüngere Musiker sehen. Unser Auftreten und unsere Art zu spielen sind dadurch geprägt, dass wir alle mit den unterschiedlichsten Einflüssen der vergangenen 20, 30 Jahre aufgewachsen sind.

Sie selbst sind auch sehr vielfältig musikalisch aktiv…
Hutter: Alle unsere Musiker spielen noch in anderen Orchestern. Die Egerländer sind schon immer ein Projektorchester gewesen, ein Auswahlorchester. Es gab nur eine relativ kurze Zeit von ungefähr 20 Jahren, in der die Egerländer in fast der gleichen Besetzung teilweise über 100 Konzerte pro Jahr gespielt haben. Aber ab dem Moment, als wir Jungen hinzugekommen sind, war es immer ein Auswahlorchester. Da gab es von Tour zu Tour auch immer wieder andere Musiker. Die hatte Ernst Mosch von Sinfonieorchestern und Big Bands rekrutiert. Wir haben erst jetzt wieder einen richtigen Stamm.
Was hat sich noch verändert?
Hutter: Das wichtigste, was sich verändert hat, ist, dass es keinen Dirigenten mehr gibt. Ich bin in Anführungszeichen nur der musikalische Leiter und stehe dem Ganzen als Verantwortlicher vor. Aber ich spiele auch selbst auf der Bühne mit.
Aber es musste nun wieder eine Person wie sie mit ihrem Namen davor stehen?
Hutter: Das mit dem Namen kam ein bisschen später. Es war aber notwendig. Die Egerländer haben zu Beginn genauso angefangen, wie wir jetzt nach dem Tod von Ernst Mosch. Sie waren eine größere Gruppe von Kollegen, die miteinander Musik gemacht haben - noch ganz ohne Namen. Es gab ja auch andere Kapellen, und es gibt auch heute noch etwa die „Kapelle Egerland“ (aus Mittelhessen, Anm. der Redaktion), die sogar noch ein bisschen älter ist als die „Egerländer Musikanten“. Die haben auch dieselben Egerländer Trachten getragen. Deshalb war es damals schon notwendig, um keine Verwechslung aufkommen zu lassen, das Orchester mit einem Namen in Verbindung zu bringen.
Warum fiel die Wahl auf sie? Interessanterweise spielen Sie neben dem Tenorhorn auch das gleiche Instrument, also die Posaune, und tragen den gleichen Vornamen wie Ernst Mosch.
Hutter: Ich glaube mit diesen Dingen hatte das gar nichts zu tun, sondern ein bisschen mehr mit Kompetenz. Das mit dem Namen ist ein reiner Zufall. Ernst Mosch hat mich ja damals auch nicht engagiert, weil ich so heiße wie er, sondern weil er einen guten Tenorhornisten gebraucht hat. Das hat auch etwas mit Kontinuität zu tun, also damit, dass ich in dieser Umstrukturierung, die er schon eingeleitet hatte, irgendwie der Leithammel der jungen Generation war. In dem Moment, als er tot war, musste etwas unternommen werden. Da konnte nicht jeder die Leitung übernehmen. Bei mir war das auch mit der Familie abgesprochen. Das hat mit seiner Beerdigung angefangen, die wir gestalten mussten. Das ist mir nicht leicht gefallen. Damals waren wir ja noch zu zweit - Toni Scholl und ich. Wir beide waren zuletzt die Ansprechpartner für Mosch. Der Toni mehr im organisatorischen und ich im musikalischen Bereich. So ist es gekommen, dass wir die Zeit danach organisiert haben. Jetzt stehen wir - zehn Jahre später - als Egerländer wieder ganz gut da. Das hätten uns viele nicht zugetraut.
Worauf darf sich das Publikum beim Wetzlarer Konzert freuen?
Hutter: Diejenigen, die die Egerländer schon immer gekannt haben, darauf, dass die Egerländer so emotionell und so engagiert wie nie zuvor auftreten, dass die Egerländer für ihr Publikum ihr letztes Hemd geben, dass wir ganz tolle, perfekte Musik auf die Bühne bringen und dass wir eine gute Show mit einem sehr guten Moderator und einem mittlerweile sehr guten Gesangsduo bieten. Und natürlich wird musikalisch von den alten Klassikern, mit denen jeder die Egerländer in Verbindung bringt, bis hin zu sehr attraktiven Solonummern wirklich sehr viel geboten.
Besteht das Repertoire nach wie vor aus eigenen bzw. für das Orchester geschriebenen Werken?
Hutter: Das war ja immer ein ganz wichtiges Konzept. Wenn man eine Identifikation mit einem Orchester haben will, muss man eigene Stücke haben, die nicht unbedingt andere Orchester so spielen. Im Fall der Egerländer ist das natürlich so, dass diese Stücke, weil sie so bekannt sind, alle anderen auch spielen. Nur wenn der Musikverein XY und dann die Egerländer die „Fuchsgraben-Polka“ anstimmen würden, dann klingt das wie zwei unterschiedliche Stücke. Wir haben aber wieder neue Kompositionen. Das haben die Leute nach Moschs Tod auch von uns erwartet. In dem Bereich zeigen wir neue Kreativität. Überwiegend haben ich selbst als Komponist und Arrangeur und noch zwei, drei andere Leute - ähnlich wie früher Franz Bummerl und Gerald Weinkopf aus den eigenen Reihen - neue Stücke geschrieben.
Was schätzen sie an Ihrem eigenen Instrument - dem Tenorhorn oder der Posaune?
Hutter: Ich liebe es, mit meinem Atem Musik zu machen. Das ist es, warum ich gerne Bläser bin. An meinem Instrument schätze ich, dass es ein Tenorinstrument ist. Das ist meine sonore Vorstellung. Wenn ich eher höhere Töne schätzen würde, wäre ich Trompeter. Aber Tenorhorn und Posaune sind die richtigen Instrumente für mich. Ich mag die Form, den Ton zu erzeugen. Das ist jeden Abend spannend. Man muss sehr viel dafür üben. Das ist eine Lebensaufgabe. Wenn man als Profi auf der Bühne steht und den Anspruch hat, möglichst perfekt im musikalischen, künstlerischen Sinne schön zu spielen und dem Publikum etwas zu bieten, dann ist das eine große Herausforderung, ein Leben lang.
Sie haben als gleichzeitiger Jazzmusiker also kein Problem damit, böhmische Blasmusik zu spielen?
Hutter: Ich würde das nicht machen, wenn ich keinen Spaß daran hätte. Die meisten Leute, die uns nicht so gut kennen, können sich nicht vorstellen wie nahe es für mich liegt, für die Egerländer und mit einer Jazz-Big-Band zu spielen. Das ist so artverwandt, auch die Art und Weise zu musizieren. Im Jazz kommt nur noch das Wesen der Improvisation hinzu. Ansonsten ist es eine ähnliche Besetzung. So wie wir spielen, spielen wir wie in einer Big Band. Jeder ist mit vollem Herzen dabei. Die Jungs spielen beispielsweise in Bayreuth Wagner-Opern, in sonstigen großen Sinfonieorchestern, mit der Bundeswehr-Big-Band oder ich bei der SWR-Big-Band. Es liegt alles sehr nahe beieinander.
Haben Sie ein Lieblingsstück im Repertoire?
Hutter: Ein Lieblingsstück ist schwer zu benennen, man hat vielleicht bestimmte Beziehungen zu einigen. Eines der wichtigsten Stücke ist aber sicherlich „So ein schöner Tag“. Auch meine selbst komponierten Lieder wie die „Egerländer Spielereien“ oder „Egerländer Festtagspolka“ sind mir wichtig.
Was gefällt ihnen gerade an den genannten so gut?
Hutter: Damit verbinde ich wunderbare Erinnerungen an meine Jugend. Das ist eine ganz persönliche Geschichte. Ich hatte mal eine Freundin, die auch Egerländer-Fan war, genauso wie ich, und wenn wir uns getroffen haben, da gab es in den Musikboxen in den Siebziger Jahren wirklich zehn bis fünfzehn Egerländerstücke drin. Das muss man sich mal vorstellen, das waren Hits. Da war unter anderem auch „So ein schöner Tag“ drin. Diese Freundin war gleichzeitig die Tochter des Wirtes. Immer wenn ich dort aufgetaucht bin, habe ich diesen Titel gedrückt und da war unser Abend gerettet. Die „Egerländer Festtagspolka“ war meine erste Komposition für die Egerländer.
Wie viel Egerland steckt noch in der Kapelle außer der Musik?
Hutter: Ganz wenig. Wir haben nur noch zwei Leute, einer der selbst im Egerland, in Falkenau, geboren ist, und Gerhard Finks Mutter stammt aus dem Egerland.
